You Don’t Have To Go Home, But You Can’t Stay Here: The Skins Finale Recap

It is with a sad heart that I write to you of the season finale of Skins. Will they survive? Will another season come of this? White Castle picked them up, so at least they can pay their actors in tiny little burgers. It starts off with a mournful tone – this episode is at once everybody’s and Eura’s, our little Effie double.

Skins’ statement on parents not paying clear enough attention to their children (and their subsequent tomfoolery) became the most clear (though I’ve been writing about it all season) when, while her parents talked over the kitchen table about their ‘self-absorbed’ son, Eura took her shirt off and poured milk all over her scantily clad body, stood there for a minute, and remained unnoticed. Chris has been bunking in Abbud’s dad’s treehouse and accidentally flashes the realtor, so moves into Tina’s apartment. Stan has lots of feelings, and trouble expressing them. My heart started racing immediately as he went on an ice cream date with Michelle. More on them later. He wrote a song for Cadie, like many unrequited-crush-ridden teenage boys will do.

Tea can’t get Betty to talk to her and Eura goes missing, possibly kidnapped, and everyone bands together to find her. It’s almost a remake of the Crystal Castles scene. Tony is wearing Old Tony’s red shirt, even. We’re just missing Mike Bailey. Turns out, Eura was just messing with everyone, and Stan finds her, chews her out, finds out it’s Cadie’s fault, then goes out and reveals that Eura’s not kidnapped, just trying to get everyone’s attention. Stan is big-brother mad.

He drags her to the stage and sings (wait for it…) Let It All Out. I was born in ’87 and spent my adolescence on boybands. If that song has another name clue me in. Everyone else is all angsty at the end but it’s worth shouting about – Stan and Michelle kissed.

Awkwardly, yes, but they kissed. The producers have promised that next season will not be Skinsian at all. Who’s excited to see what they have up their sleeves?
