Say Hello To Your New Wonder Woman

February 17, 2011

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news last night that David E. Kelly had cast the lead for the new Wonder Woman series. So who will fill Lynda Carter’s boots??

The rumor mill swirled around Christina Hendricks, but Kelly went with Adrianne Palicki. At first I was all, who? but then I saw the photo.

Omg, it’s Tara from Friday Night Lights!!!  Ok, I’m intrigued, but let’s see what you’ll do with this Kelly. I’m suspicious after the crapfest of Harry’s Law you just served Kathy Bates, but maybe you’ll have learned from your mistakes. I’m not sure about casting a blonde either, and Palicki has gone brunette in the past, but what’s she gonna do about that cute little nose?  There are still some questions that need answering before I trust this will work.

After watching Machete earlier this week, it’s hard not to want Michelle Rodriguez for this. Or hell, even Jessica Alba went up a notch in my book.

I’m glad you watched it—did you like it? And, I agree: how kickass would Michelle Rodriguez be?

Machete is a lot of fun and quite solid. I don’t want to hype it up, because it’s not amazing, it just made me smile a whole lot after an 11 hour day of work on my feet.

Could she handle Circus of the Stars trapeze acts? Could she handle… the Moisture Whip? Could she even walk in those boots, for crying out loud??!

I’m also a little afraid for the potential show content. (I know, I just gasped too.) Will it go heavy handed fighting islamo-terrorism ala 24? (Boo!) Or keep with the anti-Nazi theme? Somehow I doubt this, as no one on the TV lately but politicians who nonsensically call out their political rivals remembers who Hitler was.

….and who will be cast as Queen Hippolyta??

Nice girl, I’m sure, but from that pic she looks a lightweight.

In photos of her with dark hair, I can see it. And don’t forget that by Hollywood standards she is “a full figured” woman, the female equivalent of “strapping.” (I guess the rest of them are partially figured women.)

According to Ms P’s vital statistics are 34B-25-34. Not voluptuous, but nicely proportioned.
Ah, but imagine Christina in that costume. I’ve been bad, Wonder Woman! Lasso me!

LOL hsofia, i get so annoyed with that term. Like yes. I…have a whole body. Unlike my thin counterparts apparently? If people would just call fat people fat *Note, actual fat people. Not hollywood fat* instead of all these special words.

And eh. I dunno this is hard to trust so far. She’s not strapping enough, from this picture. The wonderwoman on my notebooks and lunchboxes and stuff is a lot…wider. But she’s a cartoon, so…

Well she’s tall enough (5’11”) but unless they have her put on a few pounds (which I doubt), yeah I agree she seems a bit lightweight for the role.

Oh hell naw. She’s cute and all, but she’s not really what I picture when I hear the words “Wonder Woman”
