Meryl Gears Up for Role as Iron Maggie with Serious Helmet Hair

February 8, 2011

Meryl Streep is steely in her resolve to get all the nuances of Iron Maggie accurate – including her famous cloud of take-no-prisoners helmet hair. “I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervor and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses – I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own,” says Meryl. Clearly, the steady diet of thick powdery layers of pancake make up, racing stripe blush and Aquanet are helping tremendously.

Meryl is absolutely amazing when it comes to inhabiting a character. As many roles as I’ve seen her in, I rarely look and say “hey, it’s Meryl Streep!”

That I save for the Oscars 🙂

It’s true, I think I only say “hey, it’s Meryl Streep!” when I see a preview for her movie and maybe even the opening scene when she appears, but then she manages to dissolve into the character for the rest of the movie.

Am I the only one who secretly hopes she wasn’t acting in The Devil Wears Prada? So deliciously frosty.

I bet she’s a hilarious dinner party guest.

Man, way to over-do the “British Teeth” makeup dept. Woah!

Britboys become American superheros and Hollywood Meryl becomes the new Boadicea.
    Colour me confused.
(Prediction: the trailer will feature Maggie’s “The lady’s not for turning.”)

    Meryl is our Helen Mirren.
