File Under: Someone Is Not Doing Their Job

January 31, 2011

Radar Online is exclusively reporting that Sean Puffy-Diddy Combs is being sued by a woman in Los Angeles for – get this – $1 trillion. Trillion? Yes, trillion.  Hmm, ok, sounds interesting, it must be really bad, what does she allege he did?  Oh, you know, causing the 9/11 attacks.  Say what? The filing came also with a request for a restraining order, which the judge denied, probably because P. Diddy won’t be passing anywhere near her in his daily routes, so why waste time with paperwork? The judge did, however, set a date to listen to her longer claims of having been attacked, abused, and abandoned by the producer and his ex-girlfriend.  And also Rodney King.  After they took down the WTC.  And somewhere in there he fathered a child and never sent support.  Now, everyone deserves their day in court, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say some clerk messed up in accepting this brief.  Well no, then again, maybe the plaintiff finally got the wording and rules correct, after repeatedly making attempts on filing this lawsuit dozens of times in the past, in which case, kudos, she has earned her court date.  So then someone at RadarOnline isn’t doing the quality job of reporting, because, let’s be real, this might be a quirky local story, but it doesn’t truly involve Combs.

Then again, maybe Combs is relieved to get placed in the news next to someone making him look better.

I agree; Diddy has nothing to do with this clearly unstable woman’s story. I do wonder how this version of the legal claim finally made it to the court. Also, I thought the cap in civil suits was like 5k. That’s what all my years of watching daytime judge shows has taught me. Is there a special class action angle that allows the seeking of damages in excess of eleventy billion dollars?

    Diddy invented the lawsuit.

I wonder what Radar thought was so amusing about this story. I’m guessing the woman, rather than the fatuous amounts involved. Though for me anything involving Diddy is by default amusing, because he’s often a hot mess.

Maybe it was news that someone thought Diddy still had that much power?

I wonder how she came up with the $1 trillion figure and where do you find a lawyer that greedy to take on this dog of case? I guess TV adverts for Lawyers are better than they used to be.

Larry H. Parker got me, $1.3 Trillion dollars.

This is so bizarre. Her figures change throughout. She claims 10 BILLION dollars in “lost income.” That would make her richer than all the defendants combined plus throw in the Queen of England and a couple of Abu Dhabi princes. No mention of a lawyer on her paperwork so I think she is just mentally ill. Maybe P Diddy will help a sista out by anonymously donating money for her to get some treatment.

How is it possible to sue for these excessive amounts? What happened to tort reform?

It doesn’t sound like it’s even gotten to “sue” stage. It appears to be in filing stage. I have to believe the judge will listen to her and throw it out before Diddy’s lawyers even have to get involved.
