Cher Tweets Out Her Frustration: Stars, They’re Just Like Us!

January 27, 2011

The Oscar nominations came out this week and perhaps you noticed that the Golden-Globe winning song from Burlesque – “You Haven’t Seen The Last of Me” written by Diane Warren – did not get included in the Best Original Song category.  Cher definitely noticed.  Then proceeded to Twitter to complain about it.  Screen caps behind the cut.

[Remember to start all the way at the bottom and read up in the timeline.]

So Cher went online to vent on twitter about getting snubbed, and some fans decided to give her isht for whining.  Below is Cher’s response:

She ran into a few typing difficulties, but we get the gist: screw you, buddy.  The tweets above that say “1 hour ago” are from this morning (about 9:30 EST), and she seems to have cooled off a bit, poking fun of both herself and the people cracking on her for it.  Cher doesn’t have time to play the nice celebrity to you online.  I kind of love that her twitter incompetence meant she didn’t even type in the person’s username – why give them any attention?  She might not be very twitter savvy, but there might be a lesson here for us anyway.

Haha, I thought that was cute. Does anyone expect Cher to know how to Twitter? I know I don’t. I didn’t think her whine was excessive, either. She did say “Oh well … the sun is still shining!” before other people decided to start cracking on her.

I thought it was kinda cute too, watching Cher get all bent out of shape over a troll, then calming down. Who hasn’t done that??

Why am I not following CHER??? she’s like my mom! And really we would all do better to direct our snark at the people without giving them any attention. She just might have pioneered a new way of snarking.

Agreed. It would have been giving way too much attention – “oh my gosh, I’m in an @ pissing match with Cher!” And I like how Barry points out it was probably accidental

She may know many abbreviations, but she has a few good ones, like “goodfknluck.”
